nanoFLEX is a premium intraocular lens implant (IOL) manufactured by STAAR Surgical, a small high-tech company known for creating the field of small incision, sutureless cataract surgery. Their introduction of the first foldable intraocular lens in the early 1990’s was just one of their groundbreaking contributions to ophthalmology. STAAR developed the STAAR Toric for the correction of astigmatism almost a decade before Alcon, the “800 lb. gorilla” in the field of ophthalmology. STAAR also developed the Visian ICL, an intraocular lens to compete with LASIK. STAAR also developed AquaFlow, the first minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
